We exist to help organisations know with confidence, that their people are ready.
SQEPtech was founded on a simple but important idea: that in regulated, safety-critical environments, the question of whether your people are genuinely competent for their roles should never be answered with a best guess. It should be answered with evidence.
Our Story
SQEPtech was founded by Bobbie King and Jonathan Ball to help organisations know, with confidence, that their people have the right competencies for the roles they're in.
From the beginning, we chose to work where the stakes are highest. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was one of our first clients and eSQEP, our flagship Competency Intelligence Platform, was built with that operational, assessed workforce in mind from day one. Not adapted for it. Not retrofitted to it. Built there.
That decision has shaped everything about how we work. We don't bring generic methodology and hope it fits. We bring genuine sector knowledge, of fire and rescue, policing, nuclear, aviation, pharmaceuticals, education and other regulated environments, alongside the technology and implementation capability to deliver outcomes that last.
We have worked with clients to help define industry standards, not just implement them. We have delivered in environments where the evidence has to be right, where an inspection or an incident will expose any gap in the record. And we have built a team whose culture reflects that: people who care how the outcome lands, who treat every engagement as its own, and who stay involved long after go-live.
Our Culture
To help organisations know, with confidence, that their people have the right competencies for the roles they're in, and to prove it when it matters.
Our Mission
We empower people and organisations to achieve excellence. By building a culture of assurance, we help our customers stay skilled, compliant, and ready for the demands of a fast-moving world.

& Honors
The awards, memberships and partnerships that reflect what we stand for.
Cornerstone Specialist Partner since 2019
One of a select group of Cornerstone specialist partners in the UK. Implementing the full Galaxy suite across regulated, safety-critical environments since 2019. The depth of our Cornerstone expertise, combined with our domain knowledge in assessed workforces, is something very few implementation partners can match.
NOG and NOS in Fire
We have worked extensively with fire and rescue clients to help define what can become the national standard for National Occupational Guidance (NOG) and National Occupational Standards (NOS) in fire. Standard-setting work, not just implementation work.
Learning Technologies Awards
Best Learning Technologies Project, UK Public/Non-Profit Sector Finalist
Recognised alongside Greater Manchester Combined Authority and GMFRS for the eSQEP implementation that is redefining how fire and rescue services evidence operational competency. An independent, industry-recognised endorsement of what’s possible when the right platform meets the right partner — and confirmation that what we built together wasn’t just functional. It was exemplary.
JOIFF Member
International Organisation for Industrial Hazard Management.
eSQEP is used by JOIFF training providers and generates JOIFF certificates directly for those providers.
A relationship built on shared standards, not just shared logos.
AllBright Everyman Award
Entrepreneur Finalist
The AllBright Everyman Award recognises exceptional entrepreneurial talent across the UK. The Entrepreneur category is its most competitive, and Bobbie’s recognition as a finalist reflects not just SQEPtech’s commercial achievement, but the mission behind it: building a business, from the ground up, that exists to make regulated workforces genuinely safer, more evidenced and more accountable.
AFOA Member
Airport Fire Officers Association.
SQEPtech worked with AFOA to help define the C699 competency framework for aviation fire, the standard that eSQEP now supports natively and generates evidence against.
Bobbie King, Co-Founder and CEO of SQEPtech, has spoken on podcasts about the journey of building SQEPtech, the problem of competency assurance in regulated environments, and what it takes to create a platform that genuinely changes how organisations evidence workforce readiness.
If you want to understand what drives SQEPtech, the mission, the approach, the belief that getting competency wrong in regulated environments isn't just a performance issue but a matter of public safety, these conversations are the place to start.
"Imagine scaling a mountain. You're standing at the base, looking at the peak. Daunting, isn't it? Now, imagine that mountain is the tech industry, and you're a woman aiming to reach the top. This is a reality our guest, Bobbie King, CEO and co-founder of SQEPtech, faced. We'll be taking you through her incredible journey from her childhood in Romania, all the way to the tech industry in the UK. A tale of perseverance, courage, and the power of technology in enabling remote work."
From her roots in communist Romania to breaking down barriers as a leading figure in the male-dominated tech sector in the UK, Bobbie’s story is a testament to perseverance and innovation.
